VCMPerth Events are excited to again be asked to assist the City of Swan with the upcoming celebrations this year at Avon Descent Family Day, held on the grounds of Lilac Hill Caversham in the stunning Swan Valley.
The historic water race, Avon Descent, turns 50 this year and there are plenty of activities on offer to celebrate the event!

City of Swan Avon Descent Festival Date: Sunday, 13 August 2023 Time: 10:00am – 3:00pm Location: Lilac Hill Park, Caversham Supported by Lotterywest This year’s City of Swan Avon Descent Festival will feature a series of family-orientated events held alongside the 50th Avon Descent race. This fun-filled weekend is the perfect opportunity to get outdoors and experience the excitement of the race, which passes through the Swan Valley vineyard region, Upper Swan Bridge and Bells Rapids. At the festival, spectator’s can sample delicious gourmet food and wine from local growers as you wander through pop-up artisan markets. Watch and cheer from arguably the best seat in the house, the banks of Lilac Hill, as competitors paddle and race by. The Avon Descent Festival is proudly presented by the City of Swan and Perth Airport, and supported by Lotterywest and VCMPerth Events.
This year is the return of the City of Swan providors marquee, showcasing local producers from the Swan region. Along with the VCMPerth Events Artisan and retro exhibitors there is something for every one at the event. So bring along your family and friends and set up your spot along the banks of the river and enjoy the free entertainment, food vendor offerings and fabulous shopping!
